Sustainability Co. – Delivering Renewable Heating for Cities

Jeff Laidler founded Sustainability Co. in 2020 with a vision to help local authorities and businesses lead on sustainability. Based in Hertfordshire, England, Sustainability Co. delivers award-winning city-scale heat networks.

Jeff started the company to address the urgent need for climate action.

“The world’s climate is at a tipping point. We need to act quickly to protect our planet and future generations”

he said.

“With many organisations declaring climate emergencies but lacking resources to make meaningful change, Sustainability Co. provides the expertise and support to implement city-scale heat networks.”

Sustainability Co. has already partnered with two ambitious local authorities on city-scale projects that are gathering momentum. The company has recently helped Kensington and Chelsea Council deliver a £27 million investment in the ‘Notting Dale Heat Network,’ which has been co-designed with residents to deliver an excellent customer experience. Sustainability Co. is also working closely with Cambridge City Council and the University of Cambridge, to deliver a feasibility study for the ‘Cambridge City-Centre Heat Network.’

Jeff finds the work deeply rewarding.

“Making a difference is what gets me out of bed in the morning. I enjoy running a successful business and being able to do this in sustainability is really rewarding,”

he said.

“I look forward to continuing the journey and driving more sustainable change.”

The company’s impact and vision were recognised when Sustainability Co. won Business, Consulting and Management Start-Up of the Year 2023 at the East of England Start-Up Awards. Jeff said,

“After taking the plunge to set up a business during lockdown, it’s amazing to have won an award just over two years later. Sustainability Co. is working to make renewable city-scale heat networks a reality in both Cambridge and London.”
